Female and Male Articles
The two articles I read came from Cosmopolitan and Men's Health. The article from Cosmo is titled "What You Must Know by the Fourth Date," and gives an array of information that women must learn about their partners by the time they go on their fourth date including, feelings about his job, past relationships and how he handles debt. The article from Men's Health is titled "5 Things You Should Never Say to a Woman" and is guide to keeping a woman happy, even in times of arguments. The articles are very similar in approach, they both seek to make a happy relationship. It is also interesting that both articles were written by female authors. The key terms from each of the articles are also very similar some even overlapped including relationship and love. The only difference between the articles is the tone, the Cosmo article has a soft helpful tone and the Men's Health article has a very rigid straightforward tone.

The tone insight is a good one, and echoes some of the finding from other members of the class.
ReplyDeleteRemember to post in response to the class blog on BJD too.
I found the tone difference in my two articles too. The men use harsher words where we women use more encouraging words. Glad to see we thought the same!
ReplyDeleteI found the same difference in tone as well! I think it is rare to find an article in a mens magazine that does not use powerful/strict language. I think it would be veryyyyy rare to find an article about how to "love your body" in a mens magazine!
ReplyDeleteI felt that In a lot of the articles the message was similar but the tone was different. I do find it quite ironic that a woman would be writing an article for a mans magazine. It's basically women telling men how to act.
ReplyDeleteI commented on your page a while ago, but just now saw that NONE of my comments have been posted, i think i've been forgetting to do the little cryptic that you have to fill out before it actually posts on the blog!
